    • Historical information: This collection consists primarily of materials produced by students of the graduate-level field methods course in the Department of Linguistics at UC Berkeley between September 1974 and March 1975 (fall and winter quarters). The course was taught by Prof. Wallace Chafe. The primary consultant was Ruby (LaPointe) Swift Bird, together with Eva (Martin) Brown. All others indicated as researchers were students in the class.
    • Scope and content: Primary and secondary notes on phonology and grammar, class handouts, and term papers, in addition to some notes and draft manuscripts from later dates.
