Historical information:Nafaanra is a Senufo language spoken in western Ghana and Eastern Cote d'Ivoire by approximately 61,000 speakers. The majority of other Senufo languages are spoken in northern Cote d'Ivoire, southern Mali, southwestern Burkina Faso with Nafaanra being a geographic isolate. Speakers of Nafaanra are divided across the Ghana Cote d'Ivoire boarder. Data for this corpus are collected in Ghana in the Brong Afro Region in the village of Banda Ahenkro. The population in Banda Ahenkro and the surrounding areas is multilingual speaking either Nafaanra or Ligbi along with Twi (Akan) and English. Twi is the lingua franca of the area and English is used in education and government. This fieldwork is a part of an ongoing fieldwork conducted by Karee Garvin through funding from the Oswalt foundation. Data was collected in the summers of 2017 and 2018.
