    • Language: Tswefap (nnz)
    • Dates: 2015-2016
    • Historical information: This collection consists of materials produced by students of the graduate-level field methods course in the Department of Linguistics at UC Berkeley between August 2015 and April 2016. The course was co-taught by Prof. Larry Hyman and Dr. Steven Bird, and the language consultant was Guy Tchatchouang. All other listed contributors were students enrolled in the course or occasionally auditing it. Mr. Tchatchouang is a native speaker of Tswefap from Douala, Cameroon, and was a Berkeley undergraduate student at the time.
    • Scope and content: This collection is organized into three series: 001 consists of sound recordings of elicitation sessions conducted as a full class and in small groups, together with transcriptions in TextGrid files; 002 is preliminary descriptive material (e.g., handouts presented in class, data organized in spreadsheets); 003 is field notes.

    • Language: Tiwa (lax)
    • Historical information: These materials were collected by Virginia Dawson in Assam, India, beginning in 2015 during her graduate studies at UC Berkeley. Tiwa is spoken in Assam and Meghalaya, India. The 2001 census lists the number of speakers as 27,100 (out of 131,000 ethnic Tiwas). Most Tiwa speakers live in the Karbi hills; Tiwas that live in the plains generally speak Assamese. These materials were collected in Umswai, Karbi Anglong district, Assam.
    • Scope and content: Recordings of elicitation sessions, texts (including traditional narratives and personal histories), scans of printed language material and field notes. File bundles are organized by year and data type (field notes, recordings of elicitation sessions, primary texts).
