Pleasure Song (one song only)
- Item identifier: 24-375
- Date: Aug 1974
- Contributors: Herb Young (consultant); Robert Rathbun (researcher)
- Languages: Konkow (mjd); Maidu (nmu)
- Description: Identification of this item is not certain. It is based on the interpretation of handwritten notes by the collector (Accession file #3079). Only one item was duplicated on this tape. This was probably an error by the technician who duplicated the tape from Rathbun's originals. This tape was originally recorded half-track at 7.5 ips (one side only; about 45 seconds in duration). This tape was copied from some of the masters for Rathbun's commercial album of Maidu music, Songs of the California Indians, Volume 1: Concow, Nisenan, Mountain Maidu (Pacific Western Traders, 1975). This album includes excellent notes (12 pp.) that provide valuable information on the recordings. Distributed on California Indian Music Project, Sierra region, tape 24, side A.
