  • Description: Spoken by Alice Lopez (wife of Salvador Lopez, the last Cahuilla Fire Eater). This tape was originally recorded half-track at 1 7/8 ips and has been duplicated onto five reels full track at 7.5 ips (approximate total duration is about 2 1/2 hours). The following list of subjects covered was found on a page in the original tape box: Agriculture, irrigation, names of plants, and use. Old and new wake (mourning ceremony). See records of the transfer by audio engineer at the UC Language Laboratory (accession file #3923).
