    • Historical information: Mam is a member of the Mamean branch of the Mayan language family, and it is spoken throughout western Guatemala, parts of Mexico, and in diaspora communities across North America. The varieties documented in this collection all belong to the Northern dialect region. Recordings were held over Zoom, and in San Juan Atitán, Guatemala. This fieldwork was conducted by Tessa Scott as part of her research as a graduate student in the Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley, with support from an Oswalt Endangered Language Grant.
    • Scope and content: Audio recordings of lexical and grammatical elicitation, subtitled video recordings of narrative texts, typed field notes, PDF scans of original field notes. The collection consists of materials on multiple varieties of Mam, including Mam spoken in the following towns in Guatemala: San Juan Atitán, San Antonio Ixchiguán, San Ildefonso Ixtahuacán, San Juan Atitán, San Rafael Petzal, and San Sebastián Huehuetenango. Most of the materials focus on San Juan Atitán Mam.
