    • Description: An Acorn Dance is described in Powers (2877:354-55), but the ceremony is not mentioned by this name in other sources on the Sierra Miwok. A Maiduan Acorn Dance is discussed in Powers (1877:285-86) and Powers also describes a dance of the same name among the Pomo (ibid. 155). Evidently the Acorn Dance was one of the so-called "first fruit" ceremonies as described in Bean and Theodoratus (1978:297) or in Gifford and Kroeber (1939:163, 212). Distributed on California Indian Music Project, Sierra region, tape 16, side A and Valley region, tape 4, side B.

We acknowledge with respect the Ohlone people on whose traditional, ancestral, and unceded land we work and whose historical relationships with that land continue to this day.
