Historical information: This Collection contains sound recordings of elicitation and texts in the Métchif language (also known as Michif, ISO crg) which were collected between 1977 and 1987 as part of a series of summer fieldwork methodology courses taught by the Summer Institute of Linguistics. Data was collected in Grand Forks, North Dakota by a variety of students, with the assistance of Professor Richard Rhodes (University of Michigan, and later University of California, Berkeley). Consultants included Eva Herman, Veronica Jerome (also known as Sheshep), Rosie Swenson, and George Wilke.
Scope and content: Audio files containing recordings of elicitation and texts in Métchif. Item descriptions were taken from metadata provided in the .csv file in Item 2018-01.001; question marks in the Item descriptions reflect question marks in the original metadata file.
